SI Equipment

Updated on December 22, 2025

All the equipment needed by Planners to lay out the course controls, as well as the Start and Finish, for level C and above events.

N.B. Kit for use at informals, e.g. numbered kites on canes, are not listed here.

Planners must complete the SI Requirements Form and email it the SI Manager as soon as possible to allow them to plan and prepare the equipment.

AIRE Autumn Night Score League

  • Choose either a 45 minute or 60 minute course
  • Mass start at 7pm
  • Find as many controls as you can in whatever order you like to earn points
  • Lose points if you're late back!
  • All finishers will be entered into the league
  • One for men, and one for women
  • Best 4 results out of the 6 events

Other Rules:

  • Anyone running 60 mins that clears the map get a 50 points bonus
  • Anyone running 45 mins get a 1/3 bonus of their score. (My method is divide by 3, multiply by 4, round to nearest integer)
  • Anyone running 45 mins cannot get more than the max score, even with their bonus
  • If any final scores are tied, 60 min runners will be placed higher than 45 min runners

Important Event Information

Safety and Risk: A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.

Insurance: From 1st January 2026, participants who are not members of British Orienteering will no longer be covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. By entering any event from 1st January 2026, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered. British Orienteering’s public liability insurance used to cover non-members at events before this date.
