Club Score Champs 10th July
Picnic and Prize-giving!
An excellent event, planned by Laura King with assistance from Lucy Haines, and organised by Lindsey and Rob King.
A note from Laura:
'Thank you to everyone who attended the AIRE score event and picnic on Sunday at Golden Acre Park. This was my first time planning and organising an event so the score style was ideal. Thanks to Tony Thornley for giving me some guidance and printing the maps.'
Success for AIRE in Saunders sunshine
The first weekend in July saw a host of Orienteers, including several Airienteers, take on the 37th Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon, with success for father and son team Matt and Adrian Hall in the highly competitive Bedafell Class
Yockenthwaite - dry at last
Steep but interesting, and no rain (at least in the morning).
We had the benefit of an enhanced Roger Lott map, which planner (also Roger) made good use of.
Giggleswick praise
Lots of positive comments about Leon Foster's urban courses at Giggleswick. A lovely morning and interesting orienteering throughout. Yet again, I screwed up at the end in the complex school buildings. Photo shows Richard discussing his superb routes with Leon. Many thanks to all who helped.
CSC @ Timble
Bad news: pipped at the post; good news…..
Despite a top turnout, AIRE were just beaten by SYO in the CSC qualifying round at Timble. We scored 2368 against SYO's 2425. We were well clear of WCOC, CLOK and EBOR. Peter H was our only course winner, but we had many top tens. We will probably make the final….
White Horse wonders
Top results from EBOR event 24.4.16
Airienteers got three top spots on Sunday.
Jack Wood won the Brown course by 15 mins, Dave Murgatroyd the Blue and Tony Thornley the Green.
White Horse, near Thirsk, has a poor 'green' reputation but the orienteering was good. The map extract is from the Green course.
Welcome to our new site!
We (mainly Alex, Chris and I) have worked hard on the website which has been designed by Paul Frost.
Any comments/feedback appreciated as we are still learning the ropes and seeking improvements.
