Success for AIRE in Saunders sunshine
The first weekend in July saw a host of Orienteers, including several Airienteers, take on the 37th Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon, with success for father and son team Matt and Adrian Hall in the highly competitive Bedafell Class
The Bedafell class is for parent/child teams and is always hotly contested. Matt and Adrian came away with an impressive victory - winning not only the overall competition, but also each individual day, beating two other orienteering families - the Cranes from DVO (2nd) and the Chapmans from MAROC (3rd).
Other Airienteers results were an impressive 4th place for Greg Weatherhead in the Kirkfell class (running with Matt John from North Leeds FR), Outi Kamararainen in 21st (4th mixed team) also in the Kirkfell (running with Edward Ingham)and Jess Nixon (with Andrew Pownell) in 35th and Natasha Conway (with Janet Adams) 56th (2nd FV team), both on the Carrock Fell Class.
