Type of event: Coaching, Training
The series is designed to cater for beginners of all ages.
All children and young people can take part in the events.
We also welcome adults who would lie to try out the sport
Parkland venues are chosen so suitable courses can be planned in a safe environment.
The park (on Saturday 7th Feb) was very waterlogged in places. Streams and little ponds had appeared that were not there before and there are areas that are very muddy. Any competitors are likely to be quite wet and muddy by the time they finish and if your little ones have an affinity for water there is plenty there to entertain them!
In the access road to the park off the A65 parking is limited - there is parking across the road in Westside Shopping Centre BUT please check on parking limits.
At the venue look for the Airienteers banner and tent.
We will be ready to see you from 1:00 pm
When you arrive you will receive a “Dibber”, an electronic timing chip, given the opportunity to look at the map before you start and an AIRE coach will be on hand to assist to talk you through what to do and answer any questions. The course start will be adjacent. There you receive the map for your course, and you can start at intervals in your own time. You can start at any time up to 2.30 pm.
Entries are £1 for each person for their first course. After that that there is no charge for running more courses.
For youngest competitors we provide 3 short courses. Do 1 and we tend to find a lot of the kids end up doing all 3!
For older children a single longer course still staying within the parkland area.
For Adult beginners we offer a course of around 3km which may go onto quiet roads beyond the park. Ideal for someone with a “Park Runner” type background.
For this event we also have a short and a long score course. The long goes out to local quiet roads and the short is within the park and the playing fields.
Parkland with a few areas of woodland.
Dogs on a short lead please. Please clear up any mess.
