A4 map. This course is within Kippax Meadows and forest.

Map by Gerry Symes and Chris Burden - updated and extended north 2026, Scale 1:4000, 2.5m contours.

The symbol 'x' represents a bench or picnic table.

The crossing points shown on the map are zebra crossings. Using them is not compulsory.

Course 5: Please ask junior competitors to not run through the long grass of Kippax Meadows because it is a nature reserve. Courses have been planned so the optimal route is along paths. There is one control that is used twice, and must be punched on each visit.

Course 6: Please ask junior competitors to not run through the long grass of Kippax Meadows because it is a nature reserve. Courses have been planned so the optimal route is along paths. Brambles are encroaching on one of the forest paths so juniors are advised to wear full leg cover. There are 3 controls that are used twice, and must be punched on each visit. Be careful not to mispunch.

    Terrain Description

Kippax provides contrasting Urban Orienteering terrain. Courses 1 and 4 visit Glencoe with its network of ginnels and green space. Courses 1, 2, and 3 visit the newly-mapped northern half of Kippax, from the grass expanse of Kippax Common to the new housing and path network in the north east, with longer legs demanding careful route choice. All the adult courses visit the town centre, and all except course 6 descend to the finish visiting the Kippax Viewpoint (but there will be no time to enjoy the view). Course 6 is within Kippax Meadows and forest, a nature reserve with grassland, forest, and plenty of paths. Note that we aren't using Billy Wood this time, so it's 100% Urban.

    Dog restrictions

Please do not bring dogs onto the school premises. Otherwise please keep them under tight control and preferably not on the courses.
