All long courses have back-to-back maps (note: Black, Brown, Blue are portrait on side 1 and landscape on side 2, Green and short Green are portrait on both sides). There is an overlap between the two sides. The controls on both sides of the map are shown in the table above.
Control descriptions are shown for all controls in full on both sides for back-to-back maps.
Courses Black and Brown have greater than 30 controls so if you have an SI card 5 it will not record any controls over 30 but it will record the time you get to the finish. You will get an overall time but the last few controls will not have the splits recorded.

The overall area is a mix mainly urban terrain and some parkland. Much of the housing in the area was constructed in the 1970s and provides a complex and interesting layout of footpaths, greenspaces, cut-throughs, and other features typical of sub-urban estate layouts of the time. It’s brilliant for urban orienteering!
Main roads through the competition area are marked “out of bounds” on the map with purple cross-hatching. Whilst there are no physical barriers to prevent competitors crossing these roads, crossing the carriageway is strictly forbidden for safety reasons. Significant competitive advantage could be gained by ignoring this rule, and therefore the provisional results and splits will be closely analysed to identify any competitor whose split for a leg which straddles such a road suggests they may have encroached on the out of bounds. Anyone suspected to have done so will be disqualified, and the Organiser’s decision will be final in accordance with British Orienteering rules. For the avoidance of doubt, use of the footpaths on either side of the cross-hatched main road is permitted.
Dogs under tight control and preferably not on the courses.
