Safety Information

The courses are located entirely within Lister Park, so U16s can run unaccompanied, but be aware that there could be slow moving vehicles on the internal perimeter road and in car parks. Young or inexperienced juniors should be shadowed.

Directions / Parking

The start is located near the tennis and basketball courts (SW side), close to the park entrance on North Park Road. By 6pm it is likely that the park gates will be closed to incoming traffic, in which case we suggest you park on North Park Road. Beware of the directional flaps at the park entrance.

Registration & Start Times

Registration from 6.20 -7.05. Starts 6.30-7.15

Courses close 20.15. For those of you who are new to this - course close means that you need to report back to assembly by that time so that we know that you have finished safely. Controls will be collected in from 20:15.

Course Information

There will be the usual long course and short course, which count towards the Summer Sprint League. Three controls on the long include an SI punch (direct punching).

Terrain Description

Lister Park is a fast urban parkland packed with exciting features like a scenic boating lake, botanical gardens, and the striking Cartwright Hall. You'll weave through open grass and dash along winding paths, navigating steps, walls, and fountains. It's the perfect playground for a thrilling sprint, whether you are dodging statues or racing to the finish!

Important Information

Safety and Risk: A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.

Insurance: Everyone is welcome to take part in this event. However, from 1st January 2026, participants who are not members of British Orienteering will no longer be covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered by our insurance. By entering any event from 1st January 2026, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. British Orienteering’s public liability insurance used to cover non-members at events before this date.
