Linear courses around Leeds City Centre.

Courses as follows:

Linear courses: Long: 7.8km, Medium 6.4km, Short 5.2km and Intro ~3km (subject to final tweaking). All courses ~50m climb max. NB: these are straight line distances and you can expect to run ~40% further.

SI-punching will be used - you can borrow an SI-card if you do not have your own.

Juniors (-16) must be accompanied and supervised by an adult

Directions / Parking

Assembly is at The Hop, Granary Wharf.  This is off Neville Street, in The Dark Arches under Leeds City Station.

Please park legally where you can - probably in a pay car park.  Best to come by train or bus.

We will socialise afterwards and present prizes in the The Hop. Please support our hosts by staying for a drink. They have generously donated the use of their venue for our event.

EOD only Seniors £3.50 Juniors and students £1.50

Course Information

Linear courses: Long: 7.8km, Medium 6.4km, Short 5.2km and Intro ~3km (subject to final tweaking). All courses ~50m climb max.

Courses will use street furniture with normal control kites and SI punching. SI cards are available to borrow for free (£30 non-return fee)

This event will use a new ISSOM orienteering map surveyed and drawn by Richard Foster January 2018.

There are leagues for Men and Women, with prizes for the winners of Open Classes and Over 45 Classes.   Your best 5 runs count. Points will be awarded on the basis of mins/km for this event. You can run any course.

Terrain Description

Urban.  Please take care crossing roads. Some roads are very busy and should be crossed with care. There are no timed out crossings. U16s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

High visibility clothing is mandatory

Dangerous roads are overprinted with the "Dangerous area" ISSOM symbol. These are extremely dangerous and should not be crossed or used under any circumstances.

There are multiple large construction sites. These are mapped with the construction zone symbol and are strictly out of bounds. There may be other construction sites that have appeared since surveying. Please stay out of these areas.

The Ice rink and fun fair in Millennium Square is currently running. This area is out of bounds and is mapped with the Temporary out of bounds overprint.
