Thanks all for coming to the event. The weather timed it perfectly for the thunderstorm to pass over Danefield just as I was putting the controls out, soaking me in the process, but dried up in time for the event.

I planned this event as a way of introducing my running club, North Leeds Fell Runners to have a go at orienteering. I think we had about 10-12 fell runners giving orienteering a go for the first time. I hope you enjoyed it and will come back for some more at some point in the future.

Because of this, my aim was to make the orienteering accessible (hence the 60min time limit), yet challenging enough and avoiding the areas where the vegetation was at its most "interesting," which I hope I achieved. I did realise that the faster orienteers would breeze round the course, although Alice managed it quicker than I expected - well done!

For those interested, I think the optimal order was 20-18-8-17-16-10-15-4-9-7-19-5-2-6-1-3-13-14-12-11 or alternatively the other way round, depending on whether you wanted the climb in one segment or two.

As ever, a big thanks to David for doing SI and struggling with card payments (apologies for this taking time - the phone was struggling for signal), and thanks to Tony Thornley for updating the map. Finally thanks to Alice, Angie, Nigel, Will and Steve for collecting controls and saving my sore ankle! Thanks also to everyone else who offered to collect - it's always nice to have lots of offers for control collectors!
