Course Information

45 minute and 60 minute course.

There are leagues for Men and Women, with prizes for the winners of Open Classes and Over 45 Classes. Your best 5 runs count.

Courses will use standard orienteering kites. control kites - no punches - we trust you to tell us how many controls you have visited.

There will be TWO MAPS - Score A and Score B. Everyone must complete Score A before returning to the Start/Finish for a Score B map.

Score A will be less demanding keeping relatively close to paths and with limited descent/climbing (12 controls, 10 points each). Score B will be much more physical and technical (7 controls, 20 points each). This is to discourage slower or less capable orienteers from venturing down the very steep and often rocky slopes.

Penalty for late finish 30 points per minute. This is to encourage everyone to finish on time!

You MUST complete your details on the entry form at the payment position (aka red Honda Civic) - most importantly your name and contact phone number, for safety and insurance purposes.

You should dress appropriately for the weather conditions and your level of fitness; please do not leave the car park after the event until all runners have been accounted for, in case we need to perform a search; you take part at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety during the event but we don’t want to leave you out there.

Please consider offering to collect controls immediately after your run. The organiser/planner is not competent to be collecting controls in these woods in the dark!

Terrain Description

Very steep and rocky with significant areas of woodland, many crags, both small and large, much of the open area is covered with brambles and is very slow to run across. The area below one very large crag is marked as out-of-bounds and you MUST NOT attempt to enter the area below the crag.

This event is NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED - you have been warned!

Dog restrictions

On a tight lead please.
