Compass Cup Heat - Bampton Common
Long leg madness...
Well done to all Airienteers who represented the club on Sunday. Great effort particularly from the Juniors to travel all that way and help the club. We were blessed with amazing conditions, compared with the forecast 24hrs before. Many thanks to Border Liners for a well run enjoyable event. Great new area and hopefully we will get a chance to race there again in the future.
It was very close, unratified results are WCOC 2450 AIRE 2418 MDOC 1836 LOC 1435; unfortunately too many Airienteers lost the plot on the long leg (3 out 3 in our car) . I'm sure this will be fully dissected and analysed in the next Aire Affairs. We live and learn, next topic for AIRE training: How to survive and conquer 'long legs'?
Runs of the day go to: Tony Thonley (1st VSG) who used all his nous to beat the gorse bushes and younger whipets; Evie Conway (1st SG) who won by exactly 1 minute over WCOC and Alasdair McLeod (1st Br) who won by 1 second!
