Alice Leake 4th in World Champs Sprint Final

Last edited: Mon 5 Jul 2021

Huge congratulations to Alice on taking a superb 4th place in the Sprint Final at the World Champs in the Czech Republic. Serial world champion Tove Alexandersson from Sweden took her 11th title in 14:03 with Russian Natalia Gemperle taking Silver in 14:12 and Dane Maja Alm (4 time previous sprint World Champion) Bronze in 14:20 just 4 seconds ahead of Alice in a very tight race.

Paul Pruzina is representing Ireland this week in all 3 disciplines and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Sprint Final placing 20th in his heat with 15 qualifying.

The races took place in the historic town of Terezín, which is dominated by several-storey defensive ramparts and moats. The organisers prepared courses with a tricky network of route choices making the most of the towns unusual features and layout. Have a look at the map courses routes and results on the WOC 21 Website

Alice ran first leg in the Mixed Sprint relay where the GB team finished 6th in a very close race just 1:30 behind winners Sweden.
