Full range of courses including
a Long Orange Course which is suitable for adult runners who are in the early stages of honing their navigational skills.

Directions / Parking

Follow Brown Tourist Signs for Shipley Glen Tramway from the junction of the A6038 Otley Road, and Green Lane.

Park in the circular car park on Coach Road. Do not park in the school grounds. Overflow parking on the surrounding streets where permissable.

Registration from 10.00 to 11.55

Start times from 10.30 to 12.15

Courses close at 2.00

The start for all courses is in the park across the road from Assembly. 200m maximum for the main car park. Please follow the tapes and only cross the road at the unmanned pedestrian crossing. The road is not particularlry busy as it only leads to a small estate and no further.

There are 2 finishes both close to the school. The Finish in the park is only for the White, Yellow and Orange courses. This will be manned. The route back to Assembly crosses the road by the same unmanned pedestrian crossing.

If you are not confident that your children can safely cross the pedestrian crossing please accompany them to the start and meet them at the Finish.

For your own safety you are advised to carry a whistle.

Electronic Punching

Controls will be enabled for Contactless punching with SIACs.

The punching Start and Finish will not be in Contactless mode and need to be punched by all competitors.

An SIAC battery test box will be available at the Start and final SIAC test will be available at -1.

It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that their SI card has registered at the control.

Traditional SI cards will be available for hire at the event from Enquiries. Unfortunately we are not able to offer SIAC cards for hire at this event. A charge of £30 will be made for lost or non-returned hire SI cards.

A “SIAC BATTERY CHECK” control box will be located near to registration. This is to test that the battery level of the SIAC dibber is sufficient for the event.

A “SIAC ON/Test” control box will be available in the start lane, this will ensure the SIAC is in contactless mode.

Recommended Courses for the Yorkshire Superleague and Aire Club League (you can run up or down)

Brown: M18, M20, M21, M35, M40, M45, W18, W20, W21

Blue: M16, M50, M55, M60, W35, W40

Green: M65, M70, W16, W45, W50

Short Green: M75, M80+, W55, W60, W65, W70, W75 W80+

Light Green: M14, W14

Orange: M12, W12

Yellow: M10, W10

Green, Blue and Brown courses will not be available to any runner aged under 16 on the day of the event, as they all contain a short stretch alongside and crossing a road that has occasional fast moving traffic.

All courses cross the Leeds Liverpool Canal and River Aire. Both must only be crossed by bridges.

Junior courses in particular run on the towpath alongside the canal and past locks. This section is always popular with the public and essentially, as a result, is very safe, but can parents and guardians please ensure your children are aware of the safety issues in such an area, and if you have any doubts please either accompany or shadow them.

White and Yellow courses will occasionally have Smiley and Sad faces en route to help indicate the correct and the wrong routes for Juniors.

White: 1.7k 15m Very Easy - For young and inexperienced juniors

Yellow: 2.0k 15m Easy - For juniors with a little experience

Orange: 3.5k 35m Moderately Easy - For more experienced juniors and inexperienced seniors.

Light Green: 3.4k 80m Moderately Hard - For experienced juniors

Short Green: 3.9k 80m Hard

Green: 5.0k 160m Hard

Long Orange: 5.1k 150m Moderately Easy Suitable for less experienced but fit adults.

Blue: 6.7k 170m Hard

Brown: 7.8k 250m Hard

Terrain Description

Rocky steep sided woodland, but also parkland and more gentle woodland, and a small urban section.

Dog restrictions

No dogs in the school or grounds please (nb the circular car park outside the school is not covered by this restriction).

Dogs under control on the courses. Please clear up any mess.
