Race #16 of the UK Orienteering League 2024, race #10 of the UK Urban League 2024 and a Yorkshire Urban League event.
Safety Information
All runners should take extreme care to watch out for pedestrians in the area - especially if it's a nice day, there will be lots of kids out playing in the estate and some of the paths are narrow.
Vest and shorts are fine, temperature permitting.
Directions / Parking
Assembly will be in open space between University of Leeds Multi-Storey Car Park and the EC Stoner Building. Nearest postcode: LS2 3AA. Grid Ref: OS E429594 N434413 What3words: coast.likes.venues. Please consider travelling by public transport. Assembly is about 30 minutes walking from Leeds railway station, and it’s about 500m from bus stops on Blenheim Terrace and Woodhouse Lane on the “Headingley Line” (see https://wymetro.com/buses/ for details)
Travelling by car: the event will be signposted from the entrance to the University of Leeds campus at the junction of Calverley Street and Willow Terrace Road (Follow Signs to LGI). Due to roadworks on campus, please do not attempt to enter the campus via the main entrance on Woodhouse Lane/Blenhim Terrace.
Recommended parking is the Orange Zone Multi-Storey Car Park, Vernon Road, LS2 3AA, which is adjacent to assembly. Do not pay on arrival. Payment for parking should be made before exit at any of the cashless pay machines (£1 per hour). Tariffs also apply to Blue Badge holders.
Should the above parking become full, alternative parking is available in the Woodhouse Lane multistory car park, which is a short walk from campus.

Pre-entry prices are
- Senior BO members = £10; on Black to Short Green and £5 on Orange and Yellow (plus £2 supplement if not a member of British Orienteering).
- All Juniors & Students courses Black to Orange = £5
- Juniors on Yellow = £0
Closing date for pre-entries at these prices is 23.59 on Sunday 30 June.
After this date, online entries will remain open until midnight on Wednesday 3rd July at EOD prices. There will also be limited entry on the day (EOD), subject to map availability:
EOD fees are
- Senior BO members = £12; on Black to Short Green and £6 on Orange and Yellow (plus £2 supplement if not a member of British Orienteering).
- All Juniors & Students Black to Orange = £6
- Juniors on yellow = £0
SI card hire: £1 for seniors Free for juniors on white and yellow
Hired SI cards will be available to collect at download. A charge of £30 will be made for lost or non-returned hire SI cards. After your run they must be left in a box beside the splits printer.
Controls will be SIAC (contactless) enabled. But you must dib at the Start and at the Finish and go to back to the event centre to Download where we register your result and so we know you have finished safely.
Competitors with standard or hired SI cards must also dib at all controls. ALSO note the info below about capacity of the SI card (Black and Brown courses). We do not have any for hire that take over 30 controls.
It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that their SI card has registered at the control. Back-up punches will not be available at controls. Should any SI box not register, please report this immediately at download.

The only courses that Under 16 are allowed to do unaccompanied are Yellow and Orange, as these do not cross any roads with traffic. Under 16s must be shadowed on other courses. Any adult shadowing must run their own course first.
Courses are planned such that estimated winning time on Black is c.50-55 minutes, with other courses scaled accordingly as per British Orienteering rules.
For Black and Brown courses, older SI cards (e.g. SI card v5) will not have sufficient capcacity due to the number of controls on these courses.

Terrain Description
Little London is a sloping area of intricate urban housing interspersed with pocket parks on the edge of Leeds city centre. Leeds University campus is a complex area of educational buildings of different ages. As experienced during the 2022 British Sprint Championships, expect fast-paced navigation and multi-level challenges!
Senior courses will take in Little London and the University. Junior courses will take place in the traffic-free environment of the University campus only.
