Directions / Parking

Park in the car park at Darwin Gardens or on the LHS of Wells Road facing uphill.

There are no public toilets at Ilkley Moor. Please try and find some en route.

Registration & Start Times

Registration from 10.30

Mass start at 11.00 close to registration

Pin punching will be used.

Ilkley Moor is exposed moorland with slippery uneven surfaces. Although all the controls are below the summit plateau full leg and arm cover must be worn. In severe weather cagoules, hats, gloves and whistles may be compulsory.

Please bring them with you and be prepared to take them. A decision will be made on the day by the organiser and notified at registration. If severe extreme weather is predicted the event may be cancelled – please check the website before setting off.


Social get-together after event for AIRE members and invited guests at 22 Ashburn Place, Ilkley, LS29 9NW, free parking on Princess Road, 5 min walk (Ilkley streets now have parking restrictions)

Please let Peter and Sarah know by email, or by direct contact after 28th December, if you intend to come for the social. (The maps are already printed so no need to say you are coming to the event- unless you intend to bring a very large group.) Please bring some food and drink to share.

Important Information

Safety and Risk: A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.

Insurance: Everyone is welcome to take part in this event. However, from 1st January 2026, participants who are not members of British Orienteering will no longer be covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered by our insurance. By entering any event from 1st January 2026, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. British Orienteering’s public liability insurance used to cover non-members at events before this date.
