Directions / Parking

Assembly and Download are in the Scout Hut of 15th Airedale, St Oswald’s Scout Group. The address is The Green, Guiseley LS20 9BB (Grid Ref: SE194419). The Scout Hut has been recently decorated - please look after it!

Leeds Abbey Dash 10k Road Race with several thousand runners is taking place on Sunday morning, mostly along the A65. It would be wise to avoid going inside the Leeds Outer Ring Road (A6110/A6120) during your journey to Guiseley

If you have pre-entered and have your own SI card you can go directly to the Start.

No car parking has been arranged but please park with care in the vicinity of Assembly or Start.

There are two Leeds City Council car parks on the west side of The Green on either side of Aireborough Leisure Centre. One, with an entrance immediately opposite the Scout Hut, has spaces for approximately 90 cars. The other, with an entrance 150m to the south, has spaces for approximately 25. These are free for 3 hours. Both are likely to be busy with Leisure Centre users on a Sunday morning.

There are several other car parks in Guiseley, including Westside Retail Park (LS20 9NE, GR: SE195415), with over 500 spaces and a 3 hour time limit, directly over the A65 from the start. Please follow parking rules and take care crossing roads. There is also free on-street parking in places, including a few spaces on The Green and some within Nunroyd Park.

Helpers only: parking has been arranged in the front car park at St Oswald’s School, entrance just 70m south of the Scout Hut. This is for event officials who need to be on site for more than 3 hours and has only 10 spaces. Competitors, please do not park here.

Public Transport

Guiseley Railway Station is about 1km walk from the Scout Hut. There is one train per hour from Leeds and from Bradford and two trains per hour from Ilkley. Buses 27 (every 30 mins from Leeds Bus Station), 34 (2 most hours from Leeds Bus Station, 1 most hours from Otley Bus Station), A3 (hourly from Bradford Interchange, Otley Bus Station and Leeds-Bradford Airport for anyone flying-in!) all pass the Scout Hut. Bus 33 (1 per hour from Leeds Bus Station and from Otley Bus Station) stops on the A65 within 300m of the Scout.

Toilets are available in the Scout Hut and in some retail outlets in the area.

Entry-On-the-Day registration and SI hire is in the Scout Hut from 10:00 to 12:00. Please do not arrive early, to allow volunteers time to set-up. Keys and other kit may be left in the Scout Hut at the owner's risk.

Starts: 10.30-12.30

The Start for all courses is in the west corner of Nunroyd Park beside the A65 - please take care near this busy main road (Nearest Postcode LS20 9LP, GR: SE196415). The route from the Scout Hut to the Start is 600m (10 minutes) and will be taped. There will be a manned crossing point over Nunroyd Avenue from 10:15 to 12:15 (for the safety of juniors).

Controls are SIAC enabled, but remember to punch at the Start and then pick up your map from the course box. You must also punch at the Finish.

Competitors with standard or hired SI cards must also punch at all controls. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that their SI card has registered at the control.

Finishes. There are two finishes. Courses close at 14:30. You must report to Download in the Scout Hut before 14:30.

The Junior Finish is close to the Start in Nunroyd Park and will be manned until 12:45. Juniors should take care crossing the access road to Nunroyd Park after finishing. Someone will be there to assist until 12:45. Juniors should then follow the taped route back to the Scout Hut for download (the crossing point over Nunroyd Avenue will be manned until 12:15).

The Senior Finish is behind Aireborough Leisure Centre about 120m from download in the Scout Hut. The route is through the main car park and will not be taped.
