FINAL DETAILS

Parking and assembly

Signed from B6429 in Harden onto Ryecroft Road.

Assembly is near The Guide Inn at SE067385 . BD21 5QP (The Guide Inn).

Parking will be as follows – please follow directions of the marshals

a)   In the assembly area.

b)   Along a bridleway close to the Guide Inn.  There will be a taped route from the bridleway to Assembly which avoids the road. 

c)   Alongside the road near to Assembly.

d)   If numbers are greater than at previous events, alongside another road on the opposite side of the Guide Inn crossroads, which could be up to 600m from Assembly. To get to assembly from this area you will need to cross a road which can be busy and fast-moving.

Please take care on all roadside parking and when crossing roads.

The area available for parking is limited – please share transport wherever possible. 

Please do not park in The Guide Inn car park – however they will welcome you, muddy boots and all if you want to call in for refreshments afterwards.

Any Minibuses or Campervans will have to park alongside the road.

In the area close to the entrances that dog walkers use to access the moor there is a significant amount of dog mess – please be vigilant about where you are walking (particularly those of you with children) and check your shoes before you get into your car. 

Facilities

Portable toilets in the assembly field.

A cakes and hot and cold drinks will be sold to raise funds for Harden Primary School Parents Association - bring your pennies for a good cause

Seniors £9.00 (£7 for BOF members); Juniors & Students £3.00; 

Juniors free on White and Yellow courses

SI card hire 50p

Entries

On the day only from 09:45 – 12:00

Starts

10:30 – 12:30   

Courses close at 2:30.

Terrain

Heather moorland, with complex quarry workings, and a steep sided wooded valley.

There are some large dangerous crags, one of which will be taped, and which courses are planned to avoid.

Some parts of the area are used extensively by the public (especially dog-walkers). Please be courteous and considerate (and take care where dogs are concerned).

There is also a small area used by a model aircraft flying club, which is marked as Out of Bounds on the map and which courses have been planned to avoid – please observe.

All other out of bound areas are bounded by walls or fences and there is no need to cross any walls or fences.  All open fields are out of bounds.

 

Start & Finish

The Start is about 200m from Registration.  The route to the start is along a footpath.

Finish will be 150m from Assembly.

Courses have been planned to Middle Distance standards and are shown in the table below, together with an indication of the recommended age-classes for Middle

Distance events.  All course lengths are subject to final controlling.  No course crosses a road

Middle Distance Championship Prize-giving

Prizes will be awarded to the 1st YHOA runner in each age class.  The prize giving will take place as soon as results permit.

Yorkshire Orienteering Superleague (YOS)

This is Event 4 in the Yorkshire Orienteering Superleague.  For further details of the Yorkshire Orienteering Superleague and the YOS age-classes and scoring system, see http://www.yhoa.org.uk/yorkshire-superleague/ 

YOS courses which are not available at this event will be combined as follows – Short Brown -> Brown, Short Blue -> Blue, Short Green -> Green,

Very Short Green -> Light Green

Dogs

Dogs welcome on lead, or at heel and under control
