Airienteers brush off festive season

Runners from Airienteers, the area’s orienteering club, took advantage of the mild weather to run off the Christmas pudding at Bishop Wood, near Selby.

Fine performances from Ilkley’s Ben Stevens (winner on the 7.4km Brown course), his brother George (second on the 4.7km green course) and Cerys Jones from Baildon (second on the 6.8km blue course) were the highlights of the club’s efforts.

Top five positions were also achieved on their respective courses by Harden’s Tony Carlyle and Baildon’s Peter Jones on the blue course and Leeds junior Alistair Broadest on the 1km white course.

The next major orienteering event will be held at Middleton Park in South Leeds on Sunday 8th January with registration between 10am and noon. More details can be found at the Airienteers website www.aire.org.uk
